Cornyn Comments On Death Of Hussein’s Sons
U.S. Senator John Cornyn, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, made the following statement Tuesday regarding the CENTCOM announcement that Uday and Qusay, sons of Saddam Hussein were killed:"My recent visit to the region confirmed that the largest obstacle to a free and prosperous Iraq is that many people there still live in fear of Saddam and his sons. "With today’s news, however, we are two steps closer to removing that fear, two steps closer to rebuilding that once great nation and two steps closer to security and freedom for the Iraqi people.” Cornyn joined eight Senate colleagues earlier this month for an Armed Services Committee trip to Iraq and the surrounding region. The delegation met with U.S. and Iraqi officials involved in the reconstruction effort. While there, Cornyn visited with Texas troops and received briefings from coalition forces and humanitarian organizations. The Committee’s chairman, Sen. John Warner (R-Va.) led the delegation.
