Cornyn Previews SOTU: For POTUS, Bigger Government Is Only Solution
WASHINGTON— U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) appeared on Fox & Friends this morning to discuss the approaching 1000th day since Senate Democrats passed a budget and expectations for tomorrow’s State of the Union address. Excerpts from Sen. Cornyn’s comments are below, and the full discussion can be viewed here.On approaching the 1000th day since Senate Democrats last passed a budget:"Because Harry Reid will not allow a budget to come to the floor…we've still got the same problem we’ve always had: runaway spending, huge debt overhang, which is killing economic growth - in other words, jobs - and we've got a regulatory environment where we see a lot of overreach that is causing a lot of job creators to sit on the sidelines and not create jobs."On what he expects to hear at the President’s State of the Union:“It sounds like a retread of the last three years. The President’s approach to government is only the federal government can do this, and the federal government knows better than you do what’s good for you. That was what we heard in Obamacare: ‘you will learn to love it, once you find out what’s in it.’ Well what we learned is its unaffordable, it won’t work, and it’s discouraging job creation in this country. What the President doesn’t appreciate, I think, is our free enterprise system.”
