U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and the subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities, made the following statement Wednesday regarding the two-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001:"Two years ago our nation was attacked by terrorists who thought we were weak and divided. In response, they found a nation strong and united. They clearly underestimated our resolve: America will never surrender to terrorists or tyrants; we will not cut and run in the face of danger. Rather, we are taking the fight to freedom’s enemies, fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq and wherever else necessary, so that terrorists can no longer export their evil to our streets, against our children or our allies. "Many challenges lay ahead, and now is not the time to let up. While we mourn our dead and wounded in the war on terror, we must finish the job in Iraq, in Afghanistan, and wherever terrorists spread their hate. We must be there, to ensure they don’t come here. We didn’t choose this fight, but it is just, and we will finish it.”
