U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, made the following statement Thursday regarding President Bush’s call for reform of medical liability and abusive litigation:"It is encouraging that the President has chosen this critical reform as one of his priorities for working with the new Congress. This is the first of many steps we will take this year to help guarantee access to affordable healthcare for all Americans. "I anticipate that the leadership in the Senate will take up this issue in the early days of the 108th Congress, and I hope special interest groups will not obstruct progress as they have in the past. Reform of the medical liability system is about far more than lawyers and lawsuits: it's about removing roadblocks to quality healthcare.”
