Cornyn Calls on Democrat Leader to Condemn Abusive Supreme Court Tactics
WASHINGTON –U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) released the following statement calling on Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) to condemn the increasingly abusive tactics by radical elements of the Democratic Party in the debate over Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination:
“The increasingly aggressive behavior being employed by liberal activists and opponents of Judge Kavanaugh is extremely concerning. Targeting members in such a personal and hostile way has no place in public discourse, and Senator Schumer’s continued silence sends a dangerous message to the Senate and country. It’s time for Senator Schumer to make clear where he stands and disavow the mob rule of the radical Left.”

WCSH PORTLAND: “Sen. Collins, who is pro-choice and considered a critical swing vote, is being pressured – and even harassed – to vote ‘no.’ All six of Collins' offices in Maine are receiving letters, emails, visitors and a high volume of phone calls and voicemails about Kavanaugh and Collins herself. Many of them vulgar and offensive.” (Shannon Moss, “Sen. Collins and staff getting abusive calls and correspondence,” WCSH, 9/11/18)
- “Some callers have been particularly abusive, according to recordings obtained by NBC News from her office. The profanity-laced voice mails reveal the anger over Kavanaugh's nomination and, potentially at her should she vote to confirm him.” (Frank Thorp and Leigh Ann Caldwell, “Abusive calls are the latest in a pressure campaign against Sen. Collins,” NBC News, 9/11/18)
