WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) released the following statement thanking fellow Texan Master Sergeant Matthew O. Williams of Boerne, Texas for his service and bravery in advance of attending MSG Williams’ Medal of Honor Ceremony at the White House this evening:

“Later today I’ll go to the White House where the President will present Master Sergeant Williams of Boerne, Texas with the Medal of Honor,” said Sen. Cornyn.  “Master Sergeant Williams is credited with saving the lives of four wounded soldiers under intense gunfire and keeping his troops from being overrun by the enemy in 2008.  So I’m proud to be there with a fellow Texan to see him receive one of our nation’s highest honors, and I will join all Texans, I’m sure, in thanking him for his selfless service to our country.”
