WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) issued this statement following the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) announcement that Texas will receive $4.7 billion in Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds for unmet needs and mitigation efforts following Hurricane Harvey:

“In the seven months since this historic storm made landfall, Texans have persevered and begun the rebuilding process,” said Sen. Cornyn. “These funds will truly make a difference in helping Texans get back on their feet, and I applaud the Administration and Secretary Carson for their continued commitment to our state’s recovery.”

Today’s announced funds are in addition to the $5 billion in CDBG-DR grants awarded to Texas in November 2017.
