Thank a Veteran

In observance of Veterans Day this past weekend, I was fortunate to be able to spend some time with our military and veterans and thank them for their service.

I spent Saturday in San Marcos, where I joined the deployment ceremony for the Texas National Guard’s 4th Battalion, 133rd Field Artillery Regiment at San Marcos High School's Rattler Football Stadium. It was an honor to thank the 350 soldiers for the commitment they’ve made to protect our great nation and to thank their families for supporting their loved ones’ service. They’ve answered the call to serve our country and defend our freedoms and I am grateful for their dedication.

On Monday, I was at a Wounded Warrior event in the Texas Hill Country where I was honored to spend time with veterans who have sustained injuries in combat. It was inspiring to hear their stories.

It's incredibly important that we take the time to recognize our veterans – they’ve sacrificed so much to uphold our freedoms and values.

We owe these men and women a great deal of appreciation and support – on Veterans Day, during Veterans and Military Families Month, and every day.

If you see a veteran, or if you know one, I hope you'll thank them for their service.

May God bless our veterans and their families, and may God continue to bless Texas and the United States of America.

For Texas,
