‘Well, I appreciate the fact the president is now going over the head of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer and taking his message directly to the American people.’

‘It's a humanitarian crisis, as you’ve heard. That's what President Obama called it in 2014.’

‘Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Chuck Schumer all voted for it… Border security used to be a bipartisan or nonpartisan issue.’

‘It's not a good-faith negotiation. If it were, we could solve this in less than an hour.’

WASHINGTON – Today U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) appeared on Fox News’ Outnumbered Overtime with Harris Faulkner to discuss Democrats’ flip-flop on their support for border security. Excerpts from his appearance are below, and video can be found here

“Well, I appreciate the fact the president is now going over the head of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer and taking his message directly to the American people.”

“It's a humanitarian crisis, as you’ve heard. That's what President Obama called it in 2014.”

“It’s also a national security vulnerability.”

“There is a train of misery coming into the United States from these transnational criminal organizations that traffic in drugs and people and human misery.”

“Border security is three things: it is barriers in places that are hard to control, it is technology, ground sensors, radar, drones, and other technological devices used to supplement the barriers, and then it’s people.”

“It really is a combination of those three, and there is no one-size-fits-all prescription for the entire border. It's quite a diverse geography.”

“[In] 2006, the Secure Fence Act, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Chuck Schumer all voted for it.”

“Border security used to be a bipartisan or nonpartisan issue.”

“It's not a good-faith negotiation. If it were, we could solve this in less than an hour.”
