In response to the liberation of Baghdad Wednesday, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, a member of the Armed Services Committee, made the following statement:"Baghdad has been liberated. Our courageous men and women in uniform worked tirelessly to free an oppressed people. The shouts of joy from the streets of Baghdad are heard around the world on this historic day as freedom rings loud. There is still much work to do, from fighting further battles to distributing humanitarian aide, but our coalition forces are strong and will continue this mission until victory is complete.”
