Provision Included in Bipartisan Water Infrastructure Bill

AUSTIN – U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) released the following statement after the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act, bipartisan legislation that includes a major provision from his COAST Act to help streamline the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Coastal Texas Protection & Restoration Study along Texas’ upper Gulf Coast, was signed into law by the President:

“The folks who live along Texas’ upper gulf coast are seeking certainty in the face of natural disasters, and this law takes a big step toward that,” said Sen. Cornyn.  “I’m thankful the President has signed this bill into law so we can help streamline the Army Corps’ study as we continue working to protect Texans living along our coast.”

The provision authored by Sen. Cornyn requires the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to take into consideration certain studies already developed by the Gulf Coast Community Protection and Recovery District (GCCPRD) while completing its Storm Surge Suppression Study.
