WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Cornyn, a member of the Environment and Public Works Subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure, has recently been named co-chair of the TEX-21 Congressional Caucus. TEX-21 (Transportation Excellence for the 21st Century) is a not for profit statewide coalition principally composed of mayors, city council members, county judges and other community leaders who focus on transportation issues. Sen. Cornyn joins Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and 25 members of the Texas Congressional delegation on the panel."I’m proud to be a part of such a strong coalition,” said Sen. Cornyn. “We will focus at the federal level on increasing transportation infrastructure for Texas through the annual appropriations process and through the relevant authorization legislation.” TEX-21 addresses key concerns regarding transportation, especially funding, safety, design standards, NAFTA Trade Corridors, national defense and homeland security. "Transportation is a major concern for a state the size of Texas. It’s crucial that we ensure Texas transportation needs are met for the benefit of all Texans,” said Sen. Cornyn.
