Cornyn Urges Democrats to Abandon Schumer Shutdown
‘Blocking funding for our military and opposing children’s health insurance in a stunt to appease the far left of their party would be unconscionable.’
WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) encouraged Senate Democrats to abandon their threat to shut down the government after the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill funding the government, including a six year extension of the Children’s Health Insurance Program:
“Hopefully cooler heads will prevail and Senate Democrats won’t vote to shut down the government. Blocking funding for our military and opposing children’s health insurance in a stunt to appease the far left of their party would be unconscionable.”
