WASHINGTON –U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) today made the following statement after the President called on Congress to pass legislation to strengthen the process by which the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) reviews foreign investments in U.S. companies:

“I appreciate the President’s support for strong legislation to modernize CFIUS so we can guard against attempts, particularly by China, to acquire sensitive technology and know-how through U.S. investments,” Sen. Cornyn said. “The Senate bill takes a carefully-tailored approach to updating the review process without limiting our ability to meaningfully engage in trade with partners around the world.”
