THORNDALE – Today, U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) met with Milam County Judge Steve Young, Milam County Sheriff Mike Clore, Bell County Judge David Blackburn, Burleson County Judge Keith Schroeder, Falls County Judge Jay Elliot, and Williamson County Commissioner Russ Boles. County leaders shared how the federal response to the pandemic has helped their communities protect public health and recover economically, as well as some of the current challenges each of their counties face.
The local leaders updated Sen. Cornyn on the impact of federal COVID-19 relief funding and what it has accomplished in their communities. They also applauded his efforts to provide flexibility for funding transportation and infrastructure projects with unspent COVID relief dollars through the Cornyn-Padilla bill. Finally, they shared updates on current public health priorities as well as economic development initiatives within the region.
