The flooding across Central Texas on the Fourth of July and into the weekend following it is heart-wrenching and devastating.
As severe weather continues in our state and as Texans look to rebuild and recover, I urge everyone to pay attention to weather reports and the cautionary messages of local and state officials.
Below are some resources for those impacted.

Information on disaster assistance can be found at fema.gov or at 1-800-621-FEMA (800-621-3362) which is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Central Time. Texans can also get the latest updates and register for disaster assistance on their cell phones using FEMA’s mobile application, available here.
Federal Disaster Assistance
- Find a Red Cross shelter close to you at RedCross.org.
- National Flood Insurance Program policyholders may call 1-800-621-3362 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (CDT) for general information, servicing of claims, or technical assistance.
- Texans who have sustained property damage from severe storms and flooding should register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) at disasterassistance.gov.
- To apply for Disaster Assistance Download the FEMA app for iPhone with emergency information by county here.
FEMA and the State work with every household on a case-by-case basis. For Other Needs Assistance (ONA) -related questions, please contact State’s ONA Helpline at 1-800-582-5233.
