Cornyn Supports Texas’ Application for Program Benefitting Rural Health
November 6, 2025
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) today released the following statement in support of the State of Texas’ application for funding through the Rural Health Transformation (RHT) Program, which was created in the Cornyn-backed One Big Beautiful Bill Act and allocated $50 billion toward rural health care across the nation:
“Texans in every corner of our state deserve the highest quality health care possible, and I strongly support the State’s application for federal funding through the new Rural Health Transformation Program to ensure hospitals and rural health care providers have the resources needed to provide critical care to the communities they serve,” said Sen. Cornyn. “I was proud to vote to create this program as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, and I join Governor Abbott in advocating for Texas to receive its fair share of this important funding.”
Background:
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act, now law, established the Rural Health Transformation Program at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to strengthen access to health care and modernize health systems in rural areas and allocated $50 billion for the program over a period of five years. States are required to apply for funding, and the funding is set to be awarded by December 31, 2025. More information about the RHT Program can be found here.
