WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) released the following statement after U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and other Senate Republicans unveiled their compromise counterproposal to the White House’s plan to fund infrastructure improvements across the nation:
“I applaud Senator Capito and the rest of my colleagues for their hard work on this legislation, which will provide much-needed modernization to Texas’ infrastructure without compounding our national debt or raising income taxes on the middle class,” said Sen. Cornyn. “Now we’ll see if the West Wing staff will let the President cut a deal with Republicans. We can show the American people that compromise is still possible in this Senate.”
