CORPUS CHRISTI – U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) announced today at the CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline Hospital that various entities in the Corpus Christi area so far have been allocated nearly $160,900,000 in federal coronavirus relief resources from Congress. While there he thanked local health care employees for their work during the coronavirus pandemic and was able to see firsthand how the CARES Act, a coronavirus relief bill he supported in March, is helping them combat the pandemic in the Coastal Bend.
Following a visit with health care workers, Sen. Cornyn held a socially-distanced joint press conference with Mayor Joe McComb of Corpus Christi, Judge Barbara Canales of Nueces County, and leadership from CHRISTUS Spohn, Texas A&M Univ.-Corpus Christi, and Corpus Christi ISD, who each spoke to how they have used CARES Act funds to benefit the Coastal Bend community.
